long weekends...good
friday. go ahead and leave early is always a good thing to hear.
saturday. minturn loop. 113 miles, 7130' climbing, four passes: Fremont (11, 318') , Tennessee (10,424'), Red Cloud (9295'), Vail (10,666'). A simple route through 6 towns. Breckenridge to Frisco, Copper Mountain, Leadville, Minturn, Vail, Copper, Frisco and back to Breck. beautiful scenery, steady climbs, sweeping descents, and some good porn. all the makings of a good road ride. if you ever have a chance to ride from leadville to vail, or vail to copper. take it. the descents make the climbs well worth it. the most fun i've ever had on a road bike. the winds were favorable, the sun shone 'pon us. the clouds waited to open until the post ride barbie. the salmon was as cooked as we were after the ride.
sunday. gran tourismo, nothing else, maybe a little bit of alias too.
monday. frosties/jones park loop. and the chi was flowing. again selasie shone 'pon the brethren. only one flat, and that came at the good sitting spot at the close end of frosties park. saw several free riders shuttling up, but none interruped the downward flow, in fact, didnt see anyone on the way down, all the way to satan's sister. there may have been some whines as the climb approached the three hour mark, but they rapidly dissapated as the grade lessened and with the deactivation of lockouts changed into hell yeah's. there was one among us who had never broken the seal on said singletrack. she was enlighened. right on the edge of control. flowing like koolaid at a summer afternoon blockparty. which is better launching the whoops, or compressing right over them. both fast. both hypocanthally stimulating. pulled off one double. a little guy. so smooth. hairball fast through the bmx section, runnin the big dog, vo2 interval. perma grin all the way down. had to tone it down for the hiking trail. is there a hiker around this corner? how 'bout now? the rain made everything lucky.
